THE TRAIL OF MOTHER TERESA IN KOSOVO / Full-day tour
This cultural trail presents the historical and spiritual journey of Saint Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa), a Catholic nun and missionary of Albanian origin. Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu was born on August 26, 1910 in Skopje, the present-day capital of North Macedonia, then part of the Kosovo vilayet in the Ottoman Empire. Her family from Prizren (Kosovo) was a wealthy and religious family, who lived with dedication to helping people in need, a spirit in which Anjeza also grew up. As a young girl, she first felt her divine calling in the Shrine of Our Lady of Letnica (Viti, Kosovo) where she later, as a missionary sister, continued her journey in Ireland and India. Her mission of compassion for the world’s poorest was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (1979) while in 2016 she was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta.
With this full day tour, you will experience the depth and wisdom of visiting the sites associated with this important saint not only for Albanians but for the whole world.
